What is a Progressive in a 21st Century Alberta?

One of the key outcomes from the Reboot Alberta Launch Nov 26-28, 2009 was to explore the answer to these questions.  What does it mean to be an Alberta Progressive in the 21st century?  What are the principles, values, issues and political cultural changes that should shape and inform a new progressive perspective in and for our province?  I call these the foundational questions for the emerging Reboot Alberta community.

These questions are now being explored by a diverse group of Reboot Alberta participants.  These citizens will be reflecting and writing their personal thoughts  on an array of theme areas that they self-selected for their focus.  In the spirit of this blog they will not be anonymous so you will get to know them through their writings.

You can expect the rough drafts of their thinking in a series of posts on this blog between now and Christmas. You can start commenting, suggesting and contributing your own posts as soon as you want.  (email your guest blog posts to ken@cambridgestrategies.com).   You can participate in this journey through commenting on this blog and at www.rebootalberta.org, if you registered. No anonymous comments or contributions please.

Through these discussion papers, with your participation and feedback, we hope to bring some focus and clarity to the foundational questions by late January.  Using dialogue and deliberation we will start to find and define our shared sense of values as a Progressive community of interest.

These shared thoughts on the foundational questions will be the basis of the Reboot Alberta 2.0 gathering in late February.  We will come together and look at possible goals and actions and test how they align with the emerging set of Progressive political principles and values.

So welcome to the trailhead of a new journey in defining and designing a progressive political culture for Alberta. I encourage you to subscribe to this blog and bookmark www.rebootalberta.org so you will get notices and updates of new posts and comments.  Looking forward to your participation and contributions as we “Press for Change” in Alberta.
