The Alberta Party is both old and new. It has a long history coming out of the early days of the Preston Manning Reform movement. It morphed into a more progressive group over the years. they have been staving off hostile takeovers from right-wing reactionaries and even more recently by the Wildrose Alliance Party.
The keepers of the Alberta Party flame over the years showed some great wisdom in aligning with the Renew Alberta group that was looking to form a new more progressive and centrist alternative for the mainstream disenchanted Alberta voter.
The rejuvenation of the Alberta Party and the emergence of a fresh centrist alternative is taking shape. The Big Listen is a different approach to showing an intentional concern and respect for citizen concerns by going into people’s homes and gathering around a kitchen or dining room table and talking about the experiences and expectations of being Albertan.
Now the Alberta Party is moving to the next stage of membership, constituency organization, fund-raising and policy development. I want to encourage them so I have a membership and will be making a donation.
I encourage citizens to open their minds to become more and better informed about the issues that concern them in Alberta today. I also encourage Albertans to open their wallets too and support political parties and individual candidates who they feel are the kind of servant leaders we need to move Alberta forward – not left or right – but forward.
If you a progressive thinking Albertan but don’t feel you have a political home right now than come to Reboot Alberta and find your tribe. There will be a major gathering of Alberta progressives in Edmonton November 5-7. It will deal specifically about what we progressive want changed in Alberta’s political culture and how we go about getting it.

Reboot,
Don’t be too hard on Joe (10:12). He obviously has no sense of proportion. To those unable to think with depth, “whatever isn’t right must be left.” It’s the sort of simplified thinking that has stunted Alberta politics for years.
It’s exactly that sort of simplistic black and white analysis that has made this country so sadly partisan.
If Joe understood who some of the board members of this party are, he might be less inclined to haul out the browbeaten term, “socialist.” But then again, a more complex analysis is probably beyond him… and even if it’s not… it would take too much effort. Easier just to cast aspersions.
Karl Tse Tung
That comment joe is like saying every conservative is radical religious fundamentalist or fascist. Got anything insightful to contribute to the conversation?
